Severn Sailing Association will be the host of the 2012 District 11 Championship on September 22-23. SSA is undergoing a major renovation to their clubhouse and this will be an excellent opportunity for Laser sailors to check out the new digs!
The 11th District of the International Laser Class Association North American Region covers Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and West Virginia. With 12 fleets around the Chesapeake Bay and Deep Creek Lake, hundreds of sailors race Lasers each year. 40+ laser regattas are held annually in the district in addition to dozens of other race days including weeknight racing and winter frostbite sailing. Each year District 11 sponsors a championship regatta for both Standard and Radial rig fleets to crown their champion and award 20 points in the ILCA-NA Grand Prix Series. http://laserdistrict11.org
The Crab Claw, hosted by Severn Sailing Association and Laser Fleet 10 in Annapolis, MD. is one of the best Fall Laser regattas on the east coast. Full rigs and Radials are welcome and a separate start will be provided for the Radials.
This popular regatta has a few new wrinkles this year which will make it even more fun. We will be starting racing on Sunday at 10 am instead of 11 a.m. and no race will start after 1400 instead of 1500. This will give our out of town guests a little more time to get on the road and back home.
Dinner will again be a traditional Chesapeake Bay crab feast. This year, back by popular request will be a masseuse and a live band on Saturday evening to give massages to and entertain tired and sore sailors.
Finally, we have limited housing available with fleet members. Check the box on the entry form if you are interested.
