The International Laser Class Association North American Region has announced the 2011 Grand Prix series. Sailors can accumulate points at the major Standard, Radial, and 4.7 events in North America. The points are used to award prizes and in the awarding of berths to World Championships in the following year.
Our own District 11 Championship at Fishing Bay Yacht Club on May 14-15 is worth 20 points.
The following prizes will be awarded once the series concludes:
- 1st – new Laser or Radial or Laser 4.7 folded sail
- 2nd – complete Laser rudder
- 3rd – “Upgrade” package with the Laser block package and new D/B friction pad
- Ironman to the participant in the most events – Laser block package
The intent of the North American Grand Prix is to promote participation in Laser Class events at the District, Regional and Continental levels. Except where explicitly stated, the following rules apply equally to the 2011 Laser, Radial, and Laser 4.7 Grand Prix.
